Collecting Royal Mail/Post Office First Day Covers

I am a Novice collector of FDC,and i am putting together a collection of royal mail/post office FDC's,One question i have that puzzles me is do i start my collection at the (Shakespeare Festival 1964 FDC)as i have read somewhere that this was the first Post Office/Royal Mail issued,any help would be grateful,

Thanks Nigel For your Information,My Mind is at Ease know i now where to start, I Have from 2010 back to 1978 so far only a year collecting and Loving it,Great Miniature Works of Art.

If You are only collecting covers that have a First Day of Issue Postmark then Shakespeare is the First one to use that type of postmark.

Most collecters would start at the 1953 Coronation for a QEII commemorative stamps used on First Day.
